An open, informal music community

Music is visible, audible, and tangible.

As a visitor, it is just as easy to grab a seat on the terrace as it is to walk in for a rehearsal, a workshop, or a listening session. The atmosphere is accessible, curious, and collaborative. Young people get the space here to be not only musicians, but also organizers, programmers, or initiators of night and festival art, often in connection with surrounding neighborhoods such as Waterkwartier and Wolfskuil.

Background and context

From factory to music hub.

themusicvilla

The Music Villa Foundation is part of the broader cultural and social development of De Rubberfabriek, a former EKI factory that since 2023 has grown into a new hotspot for Nijmegen-West. On these grounds, various organizations work alongside and with each other at the intersection of culture, health, mobility, and community gathering.

Within the warehouse where Oefenruimte.nu is located, the idea emerged to join forces and create a true music hub. Out of that collaboration, The Music Villa was born: an ecosystem of independent creators and organizations forming one recognizable location together.
